Segway Rider's Club of The Villages
About the Club
If you live in The Villages and love to ride Segways, then this group is for you! Over 100 members strong, this Segway riders group takes part in several rides or "outings" in the central Florida area each month as well as conducting fund raising events for Segs4Vets whenever they get a chance.
Most members don't even own a Segway but instead use units provided through the club at a nominal fee for the outings. After joining, all members must complete a rigorous Segway "boot camp" which is held on the 400 acre Florida Carriage Museum & Resort. Once they received this training, they are eligible to take part in all club outings.
Monthly club meetings are held at the Hibiscus Recreation Center. Interested persons should contact Tom or Barbara Davis at 352-446-4984 or by email at segwayriders@hotmail.com

Outings:
OUTINGS: The September 13th Outing will be at the Mission Inn Resort & Club (10400 County Road 48, Howey-in-the-Hills, FL 34737). The ride will start Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. and last approximately three hours with lunch on-site at the Nicker’s Clubhouse overlooking the resort’s championship golf course. Our ride will take us throughout the 1,000 rolling acres of the Resort and Las Colinas, their championship golf community. The October 12th Outing will be in the beautiful lakeside town of Mt Dora. This Tuesday morning ride will start at 9:00 a.m. and last approximately three hours with lunch in historic downtown Mt Dora at the Chew-Chew Express Sandwich Depot. We will actually ride the Historic Mt Dora Segway Tour before lunch and then take the Dogwood Mountain Segway Tour afterwards. Segway Boot Camp:
Boot Camp: The next boot camp will be Tuesday, September 7th, 9am & 11am at the Florida Carriage Museum and Resort. Email Sandy at: segwayofcentralflorida@yahoo.com to reserve a spot ($40). This is a great ride and open to all SRC members. (non-members can sign-up and join SRC at boot camp - must be a Villages resident). As a required pre-requisite, watch the Segway Training Video on the Segway of Central Florida website, under Quick Links above the SRC website. Also, bring your helmet, water, etc. Everyone must attend boot camp prior to going on an SRC outing.
Train-the Trainer: Tuesday, September 7th at 8:30 a.m. at the Florida Carriage Museum. This is for those members who have been on at least one SRC outing and will be helping to train riders at fundraising events and boot camps. It is at 8:30 for 1st timers and 11:00 for all Trainers on the same day as boot camps. You will be helping to train at the boot camp and will be able to ride with the boot camp, IF Segways are available. Review the Training Video and bring your helmet, water, etc. There is no charge, but please email segwayriders@hotmail.com to sign-up.

SRC Shirts, Caps & Patches: Shirts are orange with your name and the SRC logo and can be purchased at Custom Apparel in Spanish Springs - La Plaza Grande South, 920 Bichara Blvd, 750-1600. East of Winn Dixie and Ace Hardware. As warmer weather approaches, it will be nice to wear them to all events, outings, boot camps, meetings, etc. (We won't hide them under our jackets). Caps and visors are also available at Custom Apparel. Round patches with the SRC logo are available from Martha Wade for $5, $1 will go to the Segs4Vets Fund - see her at the next meeting.
