Segs4Vets Fundraiser To Be Held in The Villages on Monday, January 18th

Hosted by The Villages Recreation Department, The Segway Riders Club of The Villages and Segway of Central Florida

THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA – January 2, 2009 - Come out and ride a Segway in The Villages at Laurel Manor on Monday, January 18, 2010. Advance tickets for 30 minute rides are available at The Villages Box Office. The rides will consist of an introduction and instruction followed by a ride on multi-modal paths. All rides will be accompanied by experienced Segway riders.

There are six sessions - times are as follows: 12:00 noon – 12:45 pm – 1:30 pm -2:15 pm – 3:00 pm – 3:45 pm

No experience necessary; beginners welcome! All equipment and instruction will be provided by The Villages Segway Riders’ Club in conjunction with Segway of Central Florida. This event is also sponsored by The Villages Recreation Department.

All proceeds help provide Segways to disabled military veterans. This program (Segs4Vets) has been in operation since 2005 and as of July 2009 has given 346 Segways to sailors, soldiers, airmen and women of the US Military. The program is designed to give added mobility to those that have suffered severe injuries during combat in the current conflicts. Participants will have the opportunity to contribute a goodwill offering during the event to support this program in addition to the advance $25 registration fee.

In addition to the 30 minute rides, walkups are welcome to come and experience brief 10 minute rides in the parking lot; first come, first served. The donation is only $10 for a walkup and no advance registration is required.
